IEEE TAMU Kickoff

IEEE TAMU is a branch of the professional national organization IEEE. We meet on Thursdays at 7:15 pm. Our meetings consist of Corporate Talks, TEC Workshops, and member socials. IEEE TAMU also has their own large events such as Career Fair and the IEEE TAMU Technothon. Come to our annual kickoff to learn more or read about the different type of events!

Corporate Talks:
Corporate Talks are when companies come to Texas A&M University and present their company and what their employees typically do. You may bring your resume to the corporate talks for networking with the representatives from the company joining us.

Technical Workshops:
TEC Workshops range from hardware to software development. You do not need to have prior knowledge of the subject to participate! Some previous workshops include Arduino projects, raspberry pi tinkering, C++, Java, Python, 3-D CAD and printing, etc.

Member Socials:
Member socials are paid for within your membership dues. We aspire to create an environment for members to meet new people with similar interests and network with others. We have had socials at Grand Station, field games, Game Nights, etc.

Career Fair:
IEEE Career Fair is geared for Electrical Engineers, Computer Engineers, and Computer Science Majors. Companies join IEEE in creating an environment similar to that of the SEC Engineering Career Fair except they are focused on you specifically with shorter lines!

Technothon:
The IEEE TAMU Technothon is a hackathon hosted by IEEE TAMU. Our hackathon is different than other hackathons because we focus on hardware (not just software development). Technothon generally has multiple different topics such as accessibility. Grab a few friends and make a team to win different prizes and gain real world application experience.

Membership:
IEEE TAMU has two types of membership. National membership is $32 and can be found at ieee.org. This will cover the branch membership. Branch membership is $10 and can be found at ieee-tamu.org/pay-dues.
Although everyone (member or not) is free to join our events. Paid membership allows you to have more options such as access to merchandise and the ability to partake our member point system. Points are rewarded for participation in our events. The top three members with the most points will receive prizes and/or scholarship money.
